As many of you might know, Dr Mercola and I bought a 2 bedroom fixer upper on the beach in Florida in early 2016. We poured our heart and soul (and both of our money) into it, and were moving in last fall when hurricane Matthew hit it directly as a category 3. Matthew left our home very badly damaged. We’d been speaking at some events in California and thankfully were not home. I’ve already been through 29 hurricanes so didn’t need one more.
Last week I spent days preparing to move back in (I’d tried once previously, but found out there was still damage). The only thing left was to fix the roof, which our roofing company had promised for some time… I was there less than 48 hours back in, when we had to evacuate again because of hurricane Irma which is headed at Florida right now.
I am thinking of everyone who has been or will be in Irma’s path. Besides those 29 storms that left 4 of my homes damaged over the years, we had an f4 tornado that hit our home directly which killed my dog, cat, neighbors, and blew our two story home away (nothing left but the foundation).
All of our family members (besides our pets who we consider family) did survive.
Dr Mercola was gone on a business trip when Irma inched closer and I got the last flight to Atlanta where I ended up on the set of the Walking Dead.. I’m staying in an old church owned by Chandler Riggs (Carl!) who stars in the show.
I’ll have full updates on this adventure and sadly, still will have to deal with Irma.
I feel for those in Houston (including my own family members and one of our Health Nut News team members whose house was completely underwater, but receding back down.
I have some breaking stories below, and will keep reporting so long as I have power.
PS I’m featured in two free summits. One is me being interviewed by Dr Audrey Schnell here and the one with Dr Laara is over 2 and a half hours long and pretty fun, especially near the end! It’s a MUST watch here! <<< 2 1/2 hours and had a ball!
PPS Like our Facebook page here to see our 9 camera live streaming footage of Hurricane Irma on the actual Florida coast from the house (with beach shots and I can move the cameras virtually). I’ll keep it running until the internet goes down, but am doing remotely from Atlanta. My neighbor jokingly thanked me for going to Atlanta as now Irma has moved to the left and will make an appearance here. The neighbor said I’m not a storm chaser. I’m a storm magnet… That’s about right! 😦
Stay safe and see you on the other side. Oh and huge breaking stories below!
